Jules Bennett is joining up today, and her alter ego, Sophia Rae will be giving away a prize.
We like prizes.
And now onto Jules…
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
First of all, I want to thank Shiloh Walker for the invitation to blog today. I LOVE the Scamps and Vamps, so I’m thrilled to be here with such great company.
Okay, onto the topic of the day. Since becoming an author, I can’t tell you how many comments I’ve heard about the romance genre. I really should write a book about themJ.
When someone discovers I’m an author, their face lights up, mouths drop, eyes widen.
Then they ask the question, “What do you write?”
I reply, with a big smile, “Romance.”
The light in their eyes fade, their eyes dart to the side. “Oh. I don’t read that stuff.”
Sometimes I just want to say, “Do you have any idea what you’re missing out on?” But, I refrain. I do give them my website address and tell them to check it out and read an excerpt, they may be surprised.
I would like to add, I think the majority of these people are lying. I know they’ve got a steamy romance tucked under their pillow with the “good parts” dog-earedJ.
There’s such a vast array of romance, you can’t lump it all together and form an opinion. That would be like putting all men in a group. Let’s face it, men – like books- aren’t all the same. Some are great to cuddle with at night and some, well…aren’tJ.
Personally, I think there is a romance book for everybody. I’ve even turned my husband into a fan (sshhh, don’t tell him I said thatJ). I’ve told him about Cindy Gerard and Suzanne Brockmann and he’s taken an interest. He was surprised at the amount of action…well, the amount of action OUT of the bedroom.
Then there are the sweet, old-fashioned love stories that just melt your heart. I like those, too. Sometimes I want to go back and remember what that first feeling of love felt like. That first twinge of giddiness when you felt his hand against yours for the first time. Ahh, I love being in loveJ.
And, of course, let’s not forget the steamy, make-your-heart-stop-romances. You know the ones that get the blood pumping? Those are a must have for your keeper shelf.
So, whether you like your romances action-packed, full of sweetness or something to get your engine revved up, there’s an author and a book for you!
For example, I write sweet contemporary romances under the name Jules Bennett and hot, sensual romances under the name Sophia Rae. You see? Even I like the variety!
So, lets here it. What is your favorite sub-genre of romance? If I had to pick a fav, I’d probably choose Romantic Suspense. Who doesn’t love action from all directions? Oh wait, did that come out wrong?
(Jules taking foot from mouth).
I’ll choose one lucky person who comments today to receive a copy of my very first Sophia Rae book which comes out in a week! A Stranger’s Bed is a steamy novella – the first in a series of three. If you want more info on Jules or Sophia check out my sites: www.julesbennett.com or www.myspace.com/authorsophiarae. Sophia’s site is in the worksJ.

Thank you, Jules!

My fave sub genre in romance is romantic suspense. A Stranger’s Bed sounds great! Will it be out in ebook and print the day that it releases?
This one is hard for me because I love most of the sub genre in romance. If forced to choose I would say…Paranormal or Urban.
I do like a lot of action mixed in with my romance.
I guess it’s true when they say you learn something new everyday ~ I did NOT know that you had an alter ego. A Stranger’s Bed sounds like a great read.
I don’t think I could pick a favorite genre of romance ~ depending on my moods, I like it all ~ suspense, paranormal, historical, erotic, etc.
I also love almost all of the sub genres in romance. But my 3 favorite ones are paranormal, suspense and historical.
A stranger’s bed looks great! I’m looking forward to reading it.
Amy, A Stranger’s Bed will be in e-book and print, but it will only be available through The Wild Rose Press - http://www.thewildrosepress.com - because it’s a novella.
Jambrea, it is hard to narrow my fave down to just one as well. I just LOVE romance:)
Yes, Christy, my alter ego decided to emerge several years ago, but I just recently gave her a name:)
Stefanaie, I hope you enjoy A Stranger’s Bed! This will be “Sophia’s” first book.
Thanks for responding, guys, and good luck!
Jules
So glad you’re here, Jules - great post! I too am intrigued by A STRANGER’S BED and hope you sell bunches! While I love all romance, I enjoy Romantic Suspense the most, especially when the hero comes to the heroines rescue, protecting her and keeping her safe - sigh!
Have a great day!
I love romance novels but my favorite has always been romantic suspense. It holds my interest and keeps me reading. Congratulations and all the best.
My favorites are paranormal and historical.
Laurie,
I love a rescued heroine, but she CANNOT be needy or clingy. She still needs to be independent and strong.
Thanks for stopping to see me:)
Jules
Crystal and Ruth, thanks for popping in!
Jules
Well ok, i’ll be honest and say i haven’t read anything by either of your alter ego’s but ‘a strangers bed’ looks interesting =D
i couldn’t pin down my fav subgenre if you payed me! I read anything and everything, i do perfer paranormal and contemps though
My favorite subgenre would probably be contemporary romance with an occassional trip into romantic suspense and the more sensual romances. Can’t wait to read the book Jules.
Ayla, first of all, I LOVE your name!
I’ll forgive you for not reading either of my alter ego’s. My Jules book just came out this past May and Sophia’s book is due out next Friday. If you like steamy novellas, you’ll love A Stranger’s Bed!
Between Jules and Sophia, there will be five more books out between now and April, so you can catch up:)
Thanks for stopping by!
Jules
Kelly, great to see you! I hope you enjoy A Stranger’s Bed!
Jules
Jules, A Stranger’s Bed sounds great! I love them all, but if I were forced to pick just one I’d have to go with romantic suspense.
I agree with you about people lying. My aunt wouldn’t admit to reading them even under oath even though I found her large collection accidently! LOL
Susan, I’ve heard so many stories of mother’s who refused to let their daughters read “those books”. But when the mother passes on and the children are left to go through her belongings, guess what they find?
I’m proud to read and write romance. No way am I hiding:)
Thanks for dropping in!
Jules
Hi, Jules! {{{waving}}} I look forward to reading your first “Sophia” book! As for my favorite romance sub-genre, I’d have to say super-sexy romantic comedies. I am on a Sandra Hill reading kick right now, going through her Cajun books and eyeing her Viking books next.
But I read a lot of romance of all sorts.

Marcia!!! Howdy fellow chapter mate:) I love Sandra Hill’s books. I haven’t read the Viking books, though. I’ll have to give that a shot.
Thanks for stopping by!
Jules
It is hard to pick a fave genre…I love them all. But I started with historicals so that subgenre has a special place in my heart. I also love time travels, romantic suspense, hot contemporaries, sweet contemporaries, etc. I will read any subgenre of romance and it seems like my favorite is the one I just read…LOL.
Your books sound wonderful, by the way.
Well I openly admit to being an avid romance reader (in fact I am also always trying to convert people) but I couldn’t say what my favourite sub genre would be. Depending on my mood I love to read paranormal, futuristic, contemorary or historical romances. Anything with a happy ending is a good book to me
Wow.. hi Jules. I didn’t realize you were writing under another name also.
My favorite sub genre is romantic suspense (Suzanne Brockmann style) although I’ve been reading a lot more paranormal (think my tbp list consists mainly of paranormal these days.)
Hi Jules,
I’d have to say my favorite genre is historical romance. As a matter of fact, I just finished reading two. THE EDUCATION OF MRS. BRIMLEY by Donna MacMeans and MINE TIL MIDNIGHT by Lisa Kleypas. Both were wonderful.
Like you, I’ve got my husband reading some romances, too. He enjoys Suzanne Brockmann, Lori Foster and right now he’s reading Paige Cucarro’s QUEEN OF HEARTS. He’ll probably enjoy Sophie’s books when they’re out. : )
Best of Luck with the new sub-genre!
Jane
Hey Jules. I think my favorite too is romantic suspense. I rave about Karen Rose all the time. Her books are great but still have a solid romance in them too.
Your book looks interesting.
Jennifer, thanks for stopping by!
Ilona, a happy ending is a must. Anything before that is fine with me:)
Ann, Suzanne Brockmann is one of my all-time faves! I had dinner with her a couple months back and all I could do was stare!
Jane, great to see you here! I hope you like Sophia’s books:)
Judy, I haven’t read Karen Rose. I’ll have to add her name to my list. Thanks for sharing!
Jules
i love contempory romance
My favorite genre is Paranormal with Suspense coming in a close second. I recently finished Linda Conrad’s book Shadow Whispers and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hi Jules, Vamps and Scamps!
I’m a contemporary romance fan. I love straight relationship stories and romantic suspense. Even better if it’s of category length;-)
Jules — I’m going to visit Sophia’s myspace next. Take care of yourself!
Becky
http://www.BeckyBarker.com
Kim, glad to hear you like contemporary considering that’s what I write:)
Teresa, Linda Conrad is another great author. Thanks for posting!
Becky, great to see another fellow chapter mate here! I’m hoping to have my Sophia website completed sometime in Jan or Feb.
Jules
That’s a hard one. My first would be Romantic Suspense. But I love them all. Your books sound great.
I love romantic suspense and historical romance.
A Stranger’s Bed sounds great! Congratulations on your great first review! I enjoyed looking around your website and reading about your other books. :o)
Hi Jules!
A Stranger’s Bed sounds like a good book.
Contemps are my favorite, then I’d have to say Romantic Suspense.
Hi Jules,
Your new book sounds yummy.
I love paranormal and erotic romance.
Congrats on the upcoming release!
Hugs, Danette
Stacy, Cindy, Jodi and Danette, thanks so much for checking in! It’s hard to pick a favorite genre and, IMO, if it’s a good book it doesn’t matter what category it’s placed in. If it has a yummy hero and a good ending, I’m a happy gal:)
Jules
Hi, Jules. I also enjoy contemporary romances, usually with a comedic flavor to them.
When it’s done well I can read a romantic suspense in a day I get so engrossed in the story.
