The Emmys!

September 19, 2005 by shilohwalker

The Emmys!

AWK! Okay I admit it I’m a DH junkie…that’s Desperate Housewives in junkie talk.
Every Sunday my kids—who aren’t kids at all because they’re all twenty-something, have jobs and don’t hit me up for money—come home to mooch dinner. And that’s great as long as they leave or sit quietly by nine o’clock so I can watch DH.

So I ask you…how can four gorgeous wise-cracking gals with really, really great clothes who get into more trouble—they sure don’t live in my subdivision–get aced out of Best Comedy by some suburbanites with wardrobes GoodWill would be ashamed of? I know it’s not about the clothes but maybe it should be, least a little. Ever wonder where the people on Everybody Loves Raymond shop? Scary isn’t it that such a store exists.

Well, what do you think? Did the right TV shows/actors win the Emmy or not?

What about Best Drama? Lost! Okay, I don’t get it. I’m…lost. I keep thinking that show’s about people getting stranded on a tropical island. But then they find Polar bears and hatches in the ground and something’s out to get them and a guy walks who was in a wheelchair and people lose their memory and they take the kid on a make-shift raft out into the ocean—would you put your kid on a makeshift raft in the ocean? There’s something going on that I don’t get. But it won an Emmy so somebody’s getting it.

Then there’s Boston Legal. Denny Crane, Alan Shore. The two most sexist men on God’s earth. I love it! The camaraderie between these two guys touches the heart. Thelma and Louise do law.

House won for best writing but the main character is so crabby. Is anyone in life really that crabby and not been pushed in front of a bus? I have nightmares about him being my editor someday. And the gal from Medium won for best actress and that’s good because there’s got to be some upside for seeing dead people all the time and living with the crabbiest husband ever. Probably related to that guy on House…I bet I get both of them for editors!

And Monk won! Everybody loves a neurotic. Gives us all hope that even if we are nuts…and we all are…we can make it.

So, what do you think about the Emmys? Agree, disagree? Wouldn’t watch TV if your life depended on it? Can you explain Lost to me?
Diann Castell…who really wants a dress like the one Gabi wore on the Emmys. Actually I’d like to have a body like the one that went under the dress! I probably got a better chance of winning the Emmy.

    BLODDY SPAMMERS! :O|

anyway, oh Dianne… lol… I love LOST! I missed quite a few shows but still… I loved it. Gonna buy the first season now that it’s on DVD.

and uh… well, i’m not a DH fan. I can’t say I’ve ever watched it. But I do like Raymond 😉

Hummmmmm….well, don’t watch Boston Legal Have watched a few episodes of Monk and that’s a good show. Right now I’m watching lots of runs of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and I don’t think the reruns qualify for an Emmy… :O)

and sniffle…. :O( life will never be the same since Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended!!! WAAAHHH!!!!!!!

Dianne, I have to say that the only reason I turned on the Emmy’s is to watch Ellen and to see the dresses. I really cdon’t care who wins but I have to agree that Boston Legal is a riot. Of course you know that I’m a DH fan but I do love Lost as well…weird show but so different that I hate to miss it. Medium is another show that I never miss.

Shi I miss Buffy, too but did you know that David… I won’t even attempt his last name is in a pretty cool show called Bones?

I watched bits and pieces of it last night. I tried getting into Lost over the summer, I am still mega confused. I love the show Medium and I just adore the guy that plays her hubby. Don’t watch Boston Legal, have a problem with James Spader. Love DH…. Ok got to get back to work.

So last night I am sitting on the living room floor, trying to finish up an enormous mailing… what else is there to do but watch the Emmy’s???

My hands down favorite moment was Donald Trump and Megan Mullaly (sp?) singing the theme from Green Acres. Brilliant… worth the price of admission!

I didn’t get too worked up about who won or lost…

I was happy to see Blythe Danner nominated three times. She is my ideal for the elegant, still capable (aging gracefully) actress. Very classy! Of course, I am also a Gwyneth Paltrow fan.

Speaking of which… I had planned to see “Proof” this weekend, but it didn’t come on in my town. Pout…

But what is Lost about?? Everyone loves it and I just don’t get it. My editor loves it and she scares me too much to ask why.
Is it a fantasy thing? And in the last show where those bad guys took the kid I just freaked out. That kind of stuff scares the heck out of me.
I love Two And a Half Men. The kid’s great. 🙂

    Hey Dianne-

Don’t think anyone answered your question about what Lost is about. I believe it’s about the survisors of a plane crash and their life on the island they end up on.

I don’t watch it but several of my friends do and they wouldn’t miss it. Very well acted and entertaining show according to them.

    Judy,

I really don’t know why but I find the hubby on Medium sexy and I don’t usually go for Beta dudes. I really like this show. I’ve always found this interesting. There is another show coming on with Jennifer Love Hewitt (sp) where she has some sort of talking to the dead thing going on that I think looks good.

I hear Don Johnson…talk about a blast from the past…is going to be on a new show this fall. I loved Miami Vice. He was so hot then. Wonder what he’ll be like now?

I love House, have tried to get into Lost but not a lot of success, watch DH when I remember, couldn’t get into Medium and never watched Everyone Loves Raymond. 🙂

I watched the Emmys while chatting with a group of friends in an AIM chatroom. Made the show a lot more fun. We could anticipate the winners and boo or woohoo the choices.

I loved the silly Emmy idols. Cute. Amazed that it ended on time.

Loved that Hugh now has a Tony and an Emmy. Sigh… Saw him up close and personal on Broadway.

    Random thoughts.

    Later,

    Ann M.

Well, I’ve only watched about 4 episodes of LOST so far, because it’s only just started over here in UK. I was a bit dubious about it at first the first episode with all the flashbacks was so confusing. But it kinda grows on you, all these people and their little secrets. I think it’s gonna turn out to be some weird alien experiment :-0.

I like HOUSE, let’s just say I can really relate to the character, and no one’s pushed me under a bus yet. Though there’s a few might have thought about it.

I miss Buffy and Angel but what I really miss is Babylon 5 and Crusade.

  11. on September 20, 2005 at 12:49 pm DianneCastell

Do we get Babylon 5 and Crusade in the US?

Anyone watch Veronica Mars? I love that show. The last episode of the season was really good.

Only six more days till Desperate!
    Dianne

Ann, Where did you see Hugh on Broadway? What was he in?

I loved the dresses on the Emmys. What gorgeous gowns.

Ellen is a good host. She doesn’t take herself too serious which is nice for a celeb for a change.

I miss all of these shows! 😦

So many of these new series (and not so new, but that I need to catch up on) sound so great. Sigh. I suppose that’s what DVD is for, hmm?

“and sniffle…. :O( life will never be the same since Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended!!! WAAAHHH!!!!!!!”

Oh man…I hear ya. I have to make do with comic books and pretend they are the real thing 😀

I don’t watch the Emmys. Some of the nominated shows I don’t watch at all. There’re only so many hours in a day.
