Who’s the hardest person to buy for on your Christmas list?

Usually, it’s the DH. Not this year… I found him an excellent… oh, wait, can’t say that. I think he’s visited the blog a time or two before. Can’t ruin the surprise. But I hope he likes it.

This year, one of the the hardest people is going to be the bratlet. She’s 8 1/2 now. She hasn’t outgrown toys yet, and I love that, but she’s also just getting very selective about the toys she likes.

I’ve got a couple of friends I’m still debating on what to get, although I’ve taken care of the inlaws, my mom and I know what I’m getting our sitter, who’s actually like a third grandma to the kids.

Me, I’m easy to shop for… books, gift certificates, almost anything with faeries. And I do like sparkly stuff… my inner tomboy would be so ashamed.

So the clock’s ticking people… who’s your hardest? Toss out some ideas… maybe it will help some others out.

And just because I haven’t done it in a while, I’m going to give away a copy of my upcoming Ellora’s Cave release, One of the Guys, a contemporary erotic romance releasing in ebook. **It’s only in ebook at this time~apologies to those who don’t read ebooks…although this would be a wonderful time to start. Either comment or just toss your name in if you want a chance to win. I’ll draw a winner here in the next few days.

What do Henri Castelli & Alan Hyatt have in common?

They both set Jillian’s heart racing. Remember Jillian? The red-hot, feisty redhead that was Amanda’s best friend in THE REAL DEAL? Well, she’s finally getting her own story in DEAL WITH THIS (out Nov 27th). She’s just as full of mischief as ever, but this time she’s in the middle of high-tech espionage. Or at least her production company is. After her character on the daytime drama got killed off to increase ratings, she got offered a lead role on a Sci-Fi series produced in the new Hollywood – Vancouver BC.

When her celebrity crush Henri Castelli’s doppleganger shows up at her door looking for a room to rent, this is one actor whose talents are put to the test immediately. Can she keep him from finding out that he’s a walking, talking, breathing…HOT incarnation of her deepest fantasy? And does she really want to?

dwt.jpg Alan Hyatt has a job to do, but he’s so darn attracted to one of his suspects, things south are more than a little hard. If you know what I mean. For the first time in his life, this tough secret agent may be in over his head. And looking like Henrie Castelli might be the end of him.

I had a ton of fun writing about a gorgeous guy’s doppleganger, but tell me, if you could meet anyone’s physical twin, who would it be?

Want to watch the amazing book trailer created by COS Productions for the release of DEAL WITH THIS? Here it is: (Editor note…Sorry, Lucy and guys, but the trailer won’t load into the blog, you can watch it via Lucy’s site!-Shi)

P.S. I’ve got a month long party going on at my personal blog (http://lucymonroeblog.blogspot.com) to celebrate the Nov 27 release of DEAL WITH THIS. Pop by and say, “Hi,” and get entered into one of the many drawings for prizes going on.

P.P.S. You know how I love to give away prizes. So, to one lucky winner drawn from the comments on this blog, I’ll give away a hardback edition of WILLING (personalized and signed) along with a wee bit of chocolate.

(** Edited to add, contest winner will be drawn Tuesday and posted here at the blog.  Check back to see if you’ve won.-Shi)

I’m thankful for a faith that has gotten me through the darkest moments in my life, for a faith that has comforted me when nothing else could, for the freedom that faith gives me.

I’m thankful for the family God gave me.

I’m thankful for beautiful, funny, sweet, healthy kids.

I’m thankful that He gave me a gift for writing~it gave me a job that I love to do. (and for excellent covers)

I’m thankful for a home, for health…and for urgent care centers that are open @ 8:30pm the night before Thanksgiving when I pick the monster up and realize he’s sick. I’m thankful for antibiotics so he’ll get over his strep throat a little quicker.

I’m thankful for a husband that went out @ 11pm in the middle of a basketball game to get the antibiotics.

I’m thankful I don’t have to cook today.

I’m thankful I’ve got a mom who makes killer dressing.

I’m thankful for the funny Lolcats.

I’m thankful for readers.

I’m thankful for life, for the country I was born into, the family I was born into, for all the good and yes, for the bad. Because every bit of it led me to where I am…and I really like this spot.

The list could go on…God’s given me plenty to be thankful but if I listed everything, I’d miss Thanksgiving Dinner. 🙂 And Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving!

beachwebshot.jpgI love this time of year, and it always seems a good thing to me to count my blessings.  Some years are better than others… some years are filled with the sadness of losing a loved one… some years may have challenges concerning jobs or other circumstances beyond our control.

But I always try to remember that snippet of a verse, “In everything, give thanks…”

Even in years when my life is not going the way I want it to, I can still look around me and see how much I have to be thankful for.  Just today I was reading the news about the terrible cyclone in Bangladesh, and my heart aches for the people who are dealing with such tragedy.

So I am determined anew to acknowlege all the many wonderful aspects of my life and to be thankful…

In the movie White Christmas, Bing Crosby sings a beautiful song with the words, “And when I’m worried and I can’t sleep – I count my blessings instead of sheep…”  The tune is lovely, and those words rattle around in my head every year at this time.

So here is my list in no particular order… and I hope each of you will take the time to jot down a mental list as well.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and yours!

I am thankful for:

Friends both near and far, and of course, that includes my internet buddies!

An enjoyable job

Our beautiful, fragile planet

A loving husband

A home that is warm and dry

Book, books, books

And last but not least, the promise of tomorrows – the days to come… when I can wake up each morning, start with a clean slate and be the person I want to be.

It’s Wednesday!

I couldn’t think of a header.

Good Morning,

Where is the day going?  It seems like the hours are slipping by way too fast or maybe I’m dozing off a lot.  That could be it.  So much to do, so little time.

I cleaned the living room.  Applause is welcome but clap really loud so I can hear you.

Thanks for the claps.

I cleaned the living room because I want to put up the Christmas tree.  I can’t help it.  I love Christmas.  I know what to get my s-i-l.  My son and his fiance will be easy since they’ve registered for their wedding at a few places.  The grandkids will be really difficult because they’re getting older.  I’m not sure what to get my daughter. I’ll have to go shopping—darn.

My dining room is another story.  We laid new floor in the office, ripped out the old built ins that looked really cheesy and Karl built new ones which look really classy.  He’s so good with his hands (snort!).  We had to move years of accumulation out of the study and we dumped it in the dining room.  So now I need to go through all of it and hope whatever I throw away I won’t need two days after the trash is picked up.  Isn’t that usually what happens?

I have soooo got to get my butt in gear and write today.  Y’all be good (snort!).

Jules Bennett is joining up today, and her alter ego, Sophia Rae will be giving away a prize. 🙂 We like prizes.

And now onto Jules…

First of all, I want to thank Shiloh Walker for the invitation to blog today. I LOVE the Scamps and Vamps, so I’m thrilled to be here with such great company.

Okay, onto the topic of the day. Since becoming an author, I can’t tell you how many comments I’ve heard about the romance genre. I really should write a book about themJ.

When someone discovers I’m an author, their face lights up, mouths drop, eyes widen.

Then they ask the question, “What do you write?”

I reply, with a big smile, “Romance.”

The light in their eyes fade, their eyes dart to the side. “Oh. I don’t read that stuff.”

Sometimes I just want to say, “Do you have any idea what you’re missing out on?” But, I refrain. I do give them my website address and tell them to check it out and read an excerpt, they may be surprised.

I would like to add, I think the majority of these people are lying. I know they’ve got a steamy romance tucked under their pillow with the “good parts” dog-earedJ.

There’s such a vast array of romance, you can’t lump it all together and form an opinion. That would be like putting all men in a group. Let’s face it, men – like books- aren’t all the same. Some are great to cuddle with at night and some, well…aren’tJ.

Personally, I think there is a romance book for everybody. I’ve even turned my husband into a fan (sshhh, don’t tell him I said thatJ). I’ve told him about Cindy Gerard and Suzanne Brockmann and he’s taken an interest. He was surprised at the amount of action…well, the amount of action OUT of the bedroom.

Then there are the sweet, old-fashioned love stories that just melt your heart. I like those, too. Sometimes I want to go back and remember what that first feeling of love felt like. That first twinge of giddiness when you felt his hand against yours for the first time. Ahh, I love being in loveJ.

And, of course, let’s not forget the steamy, make-your-heart-stop-romances. You know the ones that get the blood pumping? Those are a must have for your keeper shelf.

So, whether you like your romances action-packed, full of sweetness or something to get your engine revved up, there’s an author and a book for you!

For example, I write sweet contemporary romances under the name Jules Bennett and hot, sensual romances under the name Sophia Rae. You see? Even I like the variety!

So, lets here it. What is your favorite sub-genre of romance? If I had to pick a fav, I’d probably choose Romantic Suspense. Who doesn’t love action from all directions? Oh wait, did that come out wrong?

(Jules taking foot from mouth).

I’ll choose one lucky person who comments today to receive a copy of my very first Sophia Rae book which comes out in a week! A Stranger’s Bed is a steamy novella – the first in a series of three. If you want more info on Jules or Sophia check out my sites: www.julesbennett.com or www.myspace.com/authorsophiarae. Sophia’s site is in the worksJ.

Thank you, Jules!

Reminder about the contest…all you have to do to enter is respond in the comment section and one winner will be drawn. Winner’s name will be posted here in a few days and you’ll need to check back in order to claim your prize.

Thank you, Jules!

Dream Destinations

image found at Wikipedia

In 2001, the DH and I spent a week in Ireland. Wasn’t long enough. I think I could have spent a year there, easily, and never gotten bored of it. I wasn’t writing as much then and that’s a shame, because if I had been paying attention, I bet I could have found a story around every corner, in all the pubs, in the shops, in the castles we visited, in the villages.

So I’m dying to go back and see if I can’t find them this time around.

I also want to go England. See Stonehenge, look around for the Beast of Bodmin. 😉 Go to Nottingham and a hundred other places.

I also want to see the Rocky Mountains and I want to go back to Alaska. I want to see Carlsbad Caverns and I want to spend a little more time at the Great Lakes.

We spent a week on the beach this past summer and while I enjoyed it, I don’t think any beach is my dream destination…unless it’s a beach in Australia, because I’m dying to visit Australia, too.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go?

First romance?

So who remembers their first romance?

Mine was The Wanton by Rosemary Rogers. I was like… hmmmmm… 12? There abouts. Man, talk about eye opening. I think technically I knew what sex was, but technical details and then Rosemary Rogers details? Vast difference. I got hooked, but not on the sex. On the romance of it.

Twelve year old girl, already into fantasy and stuff, why not through the idea of HEA in there, too?

Got hooked. Went on to gobble up books by Nora Roberts, Johanna Lindsey, Jude Deveraux… happy sigh.

So do you remember your first?
