I love this time of year, and it always seems a good thing to me to count my blessings. Some years are better than others… some years are filled with the sadness of losing a loved one… some years may have challenges concerning jobs or other circumstances beyond our control.
But I always try to remember that snippet of a verse, “In everything, give thanks…”
Even in years when my life is not going the way I want it to, I can still look around me and see how much I have to be thankful for. Just today I was reading the news about the terrible cyclone in Bangladesh, and my heart aches for the people who are dealing with such tragedy.
So I am determined anew to acknowlege all the many wonderful aspects of my life and to be thankful…
In the movie White Christmas, Bing Crosby sings a beautiful song with the words, “And when I’m worried and I can’t sleep – I count my blessings instead of sheep…” The tune is lovely, and those words rattle around in my head every year at this time.
So here is my list in no particular order… and I hope each of you will take the time to jot down a mental list as well.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and yours!
Janice

And last but not least, the promise of tomorrows – the days to come… when I can wake up each morning, start with a clean slate and be the person I want to be.
Janice that is a great list, and you are right, we have so much to be thankful for when we look around us.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends, we had our Thanksgiving here in Canada in October.
Hugs to you all and enjoy your day.
Janice what a lovely list. I am thankful first and foremost for my family, because without them I wouldn’t have the love, friendship and understanding that comes from people that know you and all your flaws and still keep you around.
I love your list, and I’m going to steal it for my own since they all match except for the dear dh *g*. I’d also like to add the troops, and all the volunteers in the world who inspire me to be a better person. God bless ’em.
