Lullaby and good night…NOT!

It should be a good time for witchy Jazz. Her curse elimination work is going well, Nick’s back in her life, and Irma’s happy now that she has the pet she’s wanted for the last fifty-odd years. Even if the dog’s been dead for some time, is as big as a house, and leaves ecto-plasmic drool and poop everywhere.

But then her life takes a swift turn. Jazz starts having the kind of nightmares that even bad Thai food couldn’t produce. Dreams that she is stalked by a Jack the Ripper type. That she and Nick didn’t survive that last battle with Clive Reeves. That her magick is gone and she’s mortal with a soccer mom lifestyle. A life without Nick.

To boot she’s cleaning up Dweezil’s messes, Nick is acting strange, Fluff and Puff are accused of eating one of the carnies at the boardwalk and tossed into bunny jail, an evil spawn of a vampire, who also happens to be one of Nick’s exes, has come to town and Jazz is soo not happy! The only good thing are the pair of magickal crocodile stilettos aptly named Croc and Delilah who make her legs look a mile long.

In the end, Jazz wants a good night’s sleep. Even if it kills her. The trouble is, it just might.

It’s not been the best week for working around this house.  I’m sick.  Baby bratlet is sick. Other issues that flooded my brain and make thinking near impossible.  So nothing much fun today…just some reminders…

I’ve got a new release out at EC~ you check it out here.

I’m still raising money for CF with Unleash Your Story, which you can check out here.

I’m running a contest for readers on my main blog to help promote THE MISSING, which you can check out here.

Last week we had the power go out, which meant I couldn’t work as much, so I read.  And this week, I’ve been sick…so I’ve read.  I’ve been reading Marjorie M. Liu and Nalini Singh and I’m wondering why I haven’t been gobbling these already…???

It’s put a dent in my reading pile though, which means the dent must be filled.  Got any recommendations? 😉

Who Stole Your Heart??

Back in high school… or even earlier?  Was there one “crush” who you still remember fondly?

I definitely had a guy who I was in “luv” with!  We lived in the same neighborhood, went to the same church, hung out in the same youth group.  He was two years older than I was, so the height of my crush was probably tenth grade.  We never ever dated, but we were definitely “buds”.

My sister had a crush on him too… and later in life, we kidded each other that if anything happened to our hubbies, this guy would be out “fall back” man.  Ha!  Of course, we never told him.

I was horrified when he started dating a girl pretty seriously during his senior year.  He and I were very good friends, but I didn’t think she was good enough for him.   🙂

For years we kept in touch at least via a Christmas card, but then he moved from our hometown and I lost touch with him.  Recently, I “found” him on Facebook.  It’s fun to reminisce about old times.  (And news flash – he’s never married!)

My January 2009 book is a friends-turned-lovers story.  The heroine was friends with the guy for years, but noe she wants more.  And she decides to send him a series of erotic valentines to “woo” him.  But she ends up competing with her secret alter ego for his affections.

The story has lots of heat and humor, and Ethan is a yummy hero.

So tell me, ladies – did you have a secret or not so secret crush… one that was never going to go anywhere? Spill all the details!  I’ll draw a name at 9PM Eastern on Wednesday to give away an ARC (Advance Reading Copy) of Hot Mail.

Seven Years

I still can’t believe it.

I still ask why.

I’d give all I have, all I am, if it could prevent something like this from ever happening again.

To those fallen heroes, to the families of all the victims and those who gave their lives that day, my heart and prayers are with you.

Karl and I were sitting on the back porch a couple of days ago and he told me he was taking his lawn mowing tennis shoes to wear when we go fishing down on the coast. They were sitting under one of the chairs which is probably why he brought up the subject.
The shoes in question were white at one time but now they have that dyed in grass green color. That and a couple of holes where he apparently decided to aerate his shoes rather than the yard. Then I looked at his so-called good tennis shoes. Ohmygosh, has he been going to town wearing those? Apparently. He didn’t see a problem with them. I did. They’re dingy. At one time, they were also white.
Why is it so hard to get some men to buy new clothes? And why oh why do they keep some of the rattiest ones? And then wear them to town. You would not believe how many times I’ve heard Karl say:
Karl: It only has a little paint on it.
Me: Ha! There’s more paint on that shirt than on the walls!
Karl: It looks clean.
Me: Ugh, where exactly does it look clean? I think I missed seeing the clean spot
Karl: It smells okay to me.
Me: Better stand downwind, babe, or they’ll call out the Hazmat truck to hose you down. I mean, if it can stand by itself, and it hasn’t been starched—that’s not “clean” holding it up.
Karl: But holes in jeans are the fashion.
Me: Those holes will get you jail time, sweetie.
Ah, husbands, you can’t live with them and the law just won’t let us shoot ’em.
Have a fantastic day!
