Inauguration

January 21, 2009 by karenskelley

Hi Everyone,

Even though I watched the inauguration from my office, I felt as though I was right there–minus the cold weather.  I thought it was absolutely fabulous.  I have page proofs for one book, just mailed off another, and just picked up my young adult to see if I can get a fast draft done before I start my next contracted book, plus I have Rita entries to read.  But yesterday I didn’t work on any of that.  I mean, how many times do we get to see history in the making?

I didn’t actually just watch TV, though.  I had 650 e-mails clogging my mailbox so I whittled them down to 39, filing the most important and getting rid of the junk.  I also pulled out excerpts from books for a flyer that Karl is going to do for me.  I’m getting so good at multi-tasking.

And I’m starting the year off right by getting organized one step at a time.  I started this a couple of years ago.  Hey, I never said I was fast *smile*  I can actually see my desk!  Yes, I know, it’s absolutely amazing.  LOL  I’ll admit, I probably clean off my desk a few times a year, but it always piles up again.  I never said I was perfect.

I also have extra copies of Southern Comfort and Bad Boys With Expensive Toys.  If you’d like one, I’ll draw two names at the end of the day from the comments (10pm central) for your choice.  Just tell me, are you organized or not.  If you are, give all us unorganized people a tip on how you do it.  And if you’re not organized, what’s your problem area?

Good Luck,
Karen Kelley

Hi Karen. Congrats on getting organized!

I’m ok at work because I know I have to put things away as I go for the most part.

At home, it’s a disaster area. Told my DH that I wished we had garage doors on each end of the house, just run a bulldozer through and keep what was left. I need to get rid of a lot of stuff, now to just find the time and energy to do it.

    Hugs!
    Deb

    Hi Karen,

I think I am a fairly organized person. The problems I have are that I let my car and my closets get cluttered and only clean them a couple times a year. I try to keep all other parts of my life organized, though.

I am a list maker. That definitely helps me to keep in mind my goals for the day and make sure that things do not start to pile up on me from one day to another.

    Hi Karen!
I have Southern Comfort but would love to win Bad Boys with Expensive Toys. I am more organized than I was because, like you I try to work on clearing things out each year.

Hi Deb! I used to want to do the same thing, but our sil is in the Air Force and our daughter has taught me a lot about getting organized at hime. You would not believe how much easier it is to keep my organized rooms clean!

Lori Ann, I’m big on lists! Can’t live without them. I have a calendar on my desk and I jot down booksignings etc on it so I won’t forget things that are coming up.

What I’m doing is putting stuff that needs to be gone through into a box, then when I’m taking a break or watching TV at night, I go through the box.

My biggest trouble area is receipts. I’m working on that this year, though. I’ll let y’all know how that goes at the end of the year. I’m putting them in envelopes marked for that month. Much better than a big basket LOL

Well sometimes I’m organised and sometimes I’m not.

I make all kinds of lists (from a list of the books I have to list of what I have to take with me when I go on a trip).

But for me it’s very difficult to throw something away. I just keep everything and I hide it in a box somwhere on my closet. :p

And when I’ve just cleaned I’m very organised and put everything where it belongs. But unfortunatly, I don’t keep up with that very long.

    Hi Karen,

In my mind I’m organized, but when I look at my desk I have to admit I am a pack rat! One day soon I plan to clear everything up. Hopefully! 🙂

    Hi Karen,
I’m not organized at all. My desk is cluttered with unopened mail and other junk. The important thing is that even though my desk is messy, I can still find what I need.

Definitely disorganized about most things — but my check book is immaculate.

Pip, I need to do a list of my movies! I may try getting that done this year. I’m so not going to try organizing my books.

Susan, I always have big plans LOL I’m finding that I’m actually starting to keep some of my goals, though.

Jane, I’m the same way. I still pretty much know where everything is. Now Karl, he’s still looking for the glasses to get a drink of water. Sheesh, men!

Renee, my checkbook is very organized. Karl does it 🙂
