Do any of you have love notes tucked away somewhere??? Hubby and I went to high school together, but then were separated during our freshman year at two different colleges. We wrote a letter to each other every day until I tranferred at the beginning of my sophomore year to the college where he was enrolled. Twelve months after that, we got married. 🙂 Graduated together two years later.
Somewhere in our basement there is a box (or maybe two) with all of those letters… two sets …. Can you imagine? From time to time I’ve thought about digging them out and reading them, but I am afraid they might be embarrassing.
My book that just came out three weeks ago, HOT MAIL, involves letters of a different kind. Jane and Ethan were good buddies for years, but never dated. When he got engaged to another woman (thankfully for not more than about fifteen minutes), Jane decided to cut her losses and move on. But five years later, she hasn’t found Mr. Right, and she still has the hots for yummy Ethan.
On a lonely New Year’s Eve she decides to send him a series of erotic valentines, all the way up until February 14th when she will reveal her identity and hopefully win him over. But fate intervenes when her stationery store is vandalized and assistant police chief Ethan comes to the rescue.
Now, suddenly, they are back in each other’s lives… but Jane sticks to her original plan. Ethan is intrigued by the valentines, but not as much as he is fascinated by Jane and their newly resurrected friendship.
Jane finds herself in the position of being jealous of her alter ego.
Sex, humor, and a dollop of danger bring the two lovers closer and closer until in the end, they both realize that a new relationship might be just what they need and want.
I’d love to hear about any of your “secret” love notes. And one lucky poster will receive a set of heart-shaped candles that look like those candy conversation hearts… which actually play a part in HOT MAIL.
I’ll draw a winner at 10PM eastern on Monday night (the 26th).
Good luck,
Janice
I have love notes that my husband wrote me in my purse. He will leave me a note in my purse, on the steering wheel of my car, or in my lunch tote. I love them.
I write notes and stick them in his lunch tote. He loves them but gets a lot of teasing from his co-workers.
Hi Janice, I’m awful with notes, but Eddie can write some of the sweetest poems. I’ve some some really great ones that he wrote when I got pregnant each time, and he wrote one for our son when he graduated high school.
I liked Hot Mail, and will admit to not guessing who the vandalizer was.
We’ve always been a big note-writing family. Stickies stuck everywhere throughout the house on a birthday or anniversary, exam days for the girls. Notes in lunches every single day – my youngest once asked me not to send notes in her lunch b/c her friends teased her about them – so the next day I included notes for each of them. They were pleased and the teasing stopped. That same daughter has on her dorm room bulletin board the “I love you” note that I stuck in my last goodie box to her. I still have in my wallet the very first “I love you” note that my hubster put on my windshield when we were dating.
I’m about to start Hot Mail – I can’t wait!! Have a great day, Janice!
Crystal – your hubby sounds like a keeper, for sure! How sweet…
Lisa – A man who writes poetry?? No wonder you fell in love with him!
Laurie – I love the story about your daughter’s friends getting notes from you! Kids who know how much they are loved grow up with real confidence and the ability to share love themselves.
Before me and husband got together we used to write letters to each other. This was when he lived in New Zealand and I in Iceland. I’ve kept all the letters, and it’s fun to read then sometimes and look back to how it all started 🙂
Somewhere I have the letters that hubby and I wrote to each other when we lived in different towns. There’s a total of 2 years worth of letters, but I’m not sure where they are. Probably in the attic!
I haven’t written love notes since high school. I can’t even remember what I wrote. I was never good at poems, so I know I didn’t write anything lyrical.
Wow, Marie – you have traveled a lot! I guess love notes were a necessity!
Jodi – Maybe you and I can make a pact someday and hunt out those boxes.. 🙂
Jane – Are you the same Jane who commented on the Cigars blog today??
I don’t know that our love notes were lyrical… probably more sappy. That’s why I’m afraid to read them. Ha!
And the winner is – (drum roll please) – Laurie!
I’ve got your addy, so I’ll pop your prize in the mail.
🙂
Janice
Sure, come on out. But, don’t come in the summer – it’s way too hot in the attic then!
Congrats Laurie!
Thank you, Janice!!
Congrats, Laurie!
Very nice information. Thanks for the time put into the blog you wrote.
