I know it isn’t spring… the sizzling temps tell me that, but I’ve been in a cleaning and streamlining mode… mainly the basement and the attic. In the house itself, I am pretty neat and not a packrat… but it is too easy to toss something in the basement thinking I’ll deal with it later…
At any rate, I’ve decided to hold a dual contest because of things I came across recently that might be of interest to some of you. It pains me to part with them, but I am trying to simplify my life and not hold onto so much “stuff.”
All you have to do to enter today’s contest(s) is to post a comment and tell me if you are a packrat or not, and what is your weakness when it comes to stuffing the closets.
The first prize will be of interest to any aspiring writers out there. It is a nice plastic case that opens like a book and holds 12 cassette tapes. (I know, I know – cassettes went the way of the dodo birds!) But these are some I collected over a period of years at various conferences, and they are really valuable ones! Sessions by the likes of Stephanie Bond, Jenny Crusie, Bertrice Small, Donna Kaufmann, etc.
Then – not to leave out the people who simply love to read… I have (gulp – can’t believe I’m saying this!) 14 vintage Nora Roberts Silhouette books from the early to mid eighties. Some of these I read and re-read to get an idea of how she tells such compelling stories. I’m sure they would be hard to find now!
So please indicate in your comment which prize you would like to win… or say “either”. I’ll list everyone’s preferences and draw 2 winners on Tuesday evening around 8PM Eastern.
Who knows – other prizes may surface in the coming weeks… stay tuned!

I’d like the cassettes…now I just gotta find a cassette player. lol!
Im a nora fan been looking for her older books and have yet to find them. So would be awesome to read her earlier books I love Nora Roberts whata cool contest be awesome to win
Both of these prizes are “PRICELESS”!!
I do have a cassette player!! Yes, my entertainment gadgets are “OLD”!
So I would be able to listen to these wonderful, constructive, information tapes from all of these excellent authors.
However, I’m also a huge Nora Roberts fan and would “TREASURE” an older collection of her early SILHOUETTE works!
PLEASE put me in for either treat package!
THANKS!
OOPs! I forgot to say that I too am a packrat.
I have saved some of my clothes that I wore in HS and college (over 30 years ago)…nice skirts, dresses and sweaters. They still fit and are in good shape.
I save all of my kids “gifts” from school projects or pictures they just happened to make.
I save “Keeper” books. I have about 6 grocery bags worth of these “Treasures”!
I saved all of the kids nicer toys for my future grandchildren: Tonka trucks, FisherPrice sets, The Little FP kitchen, firetrucks, Waffle Blocks, KNEX, LEGOS, board games, stuffed animals…..
My husband threatens to get rid of these items and I cringe every time he mentions giving them away.
So I definitely would cherish the two TREASURES mentioned above.
I am a huge packrat, along with my husband. We both worked on spring cleaning this year and ending up keeping what we have and going to an antique shop to buy more.
I love Nora Roberts and would LOVE to have a chance at winning the 14 novels.
Oh Janice I’m one of the best PACK rats that you’ll ever meet.its also heredity too. I also have ALL of Nora Roberts books from the git go, plus many authors such as Linda Howard, Kathleen Eagle and many more. I too need to get rid of so much stuff so my kids don’t have too Have old toys and lots of craft things and must get busy cleaning.Might even have some things worth a bit as It all started in 1980
I’m a packrat myself, with my biggest problem being books. I love to read and hae to get rid of them, I’d like to be included for the books!
I’m a bit of a pack rat. I tend to shove anything in closets and when I get in the mood to clean it out i usually throw half away..so yay I’m a pack rat π
i’d like the chance to win the Nora Roberts books.
I’m guessing that the “non” packrats are in the minority!
It helps to move every eight years or so… makes getting rid of stuff a priority. π
It’s interesting to hear the “confessionals”! π
Tomorrow evening I’ll draw for the prizes…
Ask my husband – I am a pack-rat who leaves everything on the dining room table. My closets are packed full of clothes that don’t fit – not even remotely close to fitting – but I just hate the idea of getting rid of clothes that aren’t that old! Except for the 1950’s reversible Pendleton wool Pleated skirt – just can’t let that go.
I’m a binge-purger. I collect/pack, then every so often I think, “It’s gotta go!”
Our parents are distressed by our basement. “It’s so empty,” they complain. Janice, should I win either gift, I promise after reading/listening, I will store them in the basement in order to make my mother and mother-in-law feel that all is right with the universe.
